Epilogue: Home

I'm going to wright this one in Dutch and English so that my former roomies can reed how I'm doing an such.

So were allmost 3 months at home. When we came home it was a bit cold, but not as cold a we where used to. So most of the time I was still wearing T-shirts. But finally summer is coming.
It was also great so see familymembers and friends again. The most frequent question I got was: Do you miss it? At first I was glad to be home, but now I would really want to go back. Same goes for Rick and Sven. I still talk to them alot and we see each other frequently.

But now the main reason I'm writing this blog: My research.

As I told in my last blog, I still needed some results from the HPLC (the device that detects the opiods in my samples.) After some long weeks. The results finally came in last week. So I processed them as soon as I could. When I got the results I send them back to Xavier and Michelle for evaluation and to see if I thaught my findings were right.

Last night we skyped to talk about my findings and whats next to do. The agreed with my findings so I can proudly say: My research of detecting opiods with secundary detection was a succes! Almost every sample showed a piek of were the opiods should be. I compared it with a standard of only codeïne or morphine.

In about six weeks Michelle has to go to an Forensic convention in the USA. She also has to do a presentation and she's gonna do it about my project!! The other projects (for example Ricks and Svens will be poster presentations)

Also there is a convention in Australia in August were she also will present my project.

And now here's the big one. My project will be the subject of a scientific article. Cause I'm the first one who has ever done this. A proposal was filled in and got accepted! Also my name will be placed first on the article cause it was my project.

So I'm very excited about this. For me this is a big accomplishment.

and now i will type the same thing except in Dutch.

Ben inmiddels al bijna 3 maanden thuis. Toen we thuis kwamen was het een beetje koud. Maar heb grotendeels nog gewoon in een T-shirt rondgelopen. Maar gelukkig komt de zomer eraan en kan ik weer korte broeken aan en aan mijn bruine kleurtje werken. Vond het wel fijn om familie en vrienden te zien. het verbaasde me ook hoeveel mensen me aanspraken en hoe Australië geweest was. Dus vele dank daarvoor. Een van de vele vragen was van: zou je wel niet terug willen. Dat gevoel begint we steeds meer te kriebelen. Maar dat geldt ook voor mijn maatjes Rick en Sven.

Maar nu de reden waarvoor ik deze blog schreef: mijn project!

Ik heb heel lang moeten wachten tot ik eindelijk mijn resultaten kreeg. Maar vorige week kreeg ik ze eindelijk binnen. Dus ben er wanneer ik er tijd voor had voor gaan zitten en heb ze daarna meteen terug gestuurd naar mijn supervisors in Australië. Ik wilde van een reactie om te kijken of mijn bevindingen klopte. Daarna kreeg ik een mail of ik kon skypen.

Dus vannacht met de andere kant van de wereld geskyped over mijn project. Ze waren het eens met mijn bevindingen. Dus ik kan met trots melden dat mijn project gelukt is!

Michelle (supervisor) heeft over 6 weken een forensische conferentie in Amerika. Daarbij zal ze mijn project presenteren. Van haar overige projecten die ze begeleide (die van Rick en Sven bijvoorbeeld) zullen posterpresentaties zijn.

In Augustus is een forensische conferentie in Australië. Waarschijnlijk gaat ze daar ook mijn project presenteren.

En nu het belangrijkste: Michelle heeft een voorstel gedaan om mijn onderzoek te publiceren en dat is goed gekeurd. Dus van mijn onderzoek word ook een wetenschappelijk artikel geschreven. Mijn naam komt ook als eerste omdat het mijn onderzoek is.

Ik ben hier echt heel blij mee.

Dus ik denk dat dit mijn laatste blog was. Als er nog iets interessants gebeurd rondom mijn project zal ik dat op FB posten (of persoonlijk melden)
